Why do most people purchase things like breadmakers, blenders and juicers but rarely use them?

Bread makers are great until you realize you end up with a loaf of bread that has a giant hole going through it. Blenders- usually stop using those cause the drinks are too complicated for first thing in the morning and at night it is easier to crack open a beer. and the juicer- so help me- the person who invented those should be sitting next to Paris Hilton in jail- they are the biggest pain to clean that screen. I can’t even GIVE mine away.
Oh and the bread- everyone realized they gained 20 pounds from eating the stuff- big reason to not use anymore.

Juicers; Will you get the same nutrition from a juicer as eating the fruit whole? Will you lose the fiber?

Will you lose the fiber by juicing?

I would like to buy JACK LALANNE’S POWER JUICER, but don’t want to if I’m going to sacrifice nutrician. Anybody know anything about this?

I would just eat the fruit, juicers separate the solids from the juice. Like if you want carrot juice, you probably need 5 lbs of carrots to get a glass of juice.

And not only that, you have to clean the damn thing after every use.

Remember a long time ago, Everyone bought food processors….They are never used by the people who bought them, cause it took far longer to clean them than to just cut up the stuff by hand.

Eat fruit, & veggies, Buy juice for drinking, Don’t buy the machine.

Where can I buy personal orange juicers / sippers / straws?

Do you remember the plastic small straw type things that you stick into a fresh orange and use to suck the juice out? I used them all the time as a kid but now I want to find a place to buy some for home (and for friends and family)…. can anyone help? I would be great if you knew a manufacture or retailer.

Which juicers is better than the Jack Lelanne power juicer?

The Jack Lelanne juicer is getting wonderful reviews but its very pricey, what others are as effective, if not better?

None are as effective or better.
Have you seen old Jack? He’s in his nineties and can kick the crap out of you and me together! At 70 Jack fought strong winds and currents as he swam 1.5 miles while towing 70 boats with 70 people from the Queen’s Way Bridge in the Long Beach Harbor to the Queen Mary, while shackled & handcuffed!
Whatever it is that is making him go is something we should all have.

Since Marion Jones had to give up her medals, shouldn’t all World Series juicers do the same?

If we’re going to do that to her it should be done across the board!
Cheating is cheating right?
The relay teams that Jones participated on had to return their medals too.
So, in that regards, a WS team should have to give it up as well right?
Explain how that’s different.

You bet they should give up their ill gotten prizes. how is it fair to the guys who played hard and got nothing.

If they are going to clean it up, clean it up.. if not.. start billing it like wrestling.. a drugged up sport.. if you want to watch, watch.. but don’t consider it a fair arena at all.

Does the Omega Juicers 8005 model have a defect? Does anyone already own this model?

I want to buy this model, but 2 users on Epinions.com are reporting that the Omega 8005 has a defect where it grinds plastic particles into the juice. I guess if you run the machine without putting anything in for a couple minutes, according to the reviews, "the rotating auger grinds against the juicing insert actually scraping off trace amounts of the plastic." Can anyone dispel this? Thanks.

I have this juicer and love it. I’ve not personally encountered this little "glitch" they speak of BUT, here’s what I did to prevent it from happening. When brought it home, unpacked it, I poured a bit of olive oil onto a paper towel, wiped down the inside, and then washed it with hot and soapy water. The olive oil lubricates and coats without leaving a residue. It’s rather like "seasoning" a new skillet prior to using it. If you do not have olive oil, another mild thick oil will do the trick. I’d not recommend vegetable oil or a low-grade oil.

I would like to make my own vegetable and fruit smoothies, soups and other blended food but I’m confused which small appliance to buy. They all seem to do the same thing but how come they’re called differently? What do you think I should get?

Food Processor: chops, grates food. Using different blades you can do different preps.

Blender: Chops, grates, crushes ice, & makes food much finer to the point of like a smoothie

Smoothie Makers: are usually not as powerful as a good Blender. They are much more limited in there uses that either a food Processor or Blender

Juicer: Extracts & separates the pulp of the fruit or veggie from the juice.

I own a Blender with a small food processor attachement(Hamilton Beech) & a Juicer(Jack LaLanne). I find the 2 are what I need for my healthy diet & lifetstyle. Both are moderately priced & I am pleased with the work they do.
My daughter owns a Vitamix Blender & a Champion Juicer & luvs them both. They are much more upscale than I have.

When you put anyvege in a juicer, does all of it get made into juice or are their scraps? Also, what combinations of veges or fruits are good when mixed together for a drink? I mean, are there any "recipies" for natural juices? Is this a good diet?

for a good mix, try bananas, and strawberries, and pineapple. yes, this is a healthy diet. Get your protein from peanut butter, or beans. You will probably lose weight, especially if you eat a lot of grapefruit.
